Compassionate Support for Complex Mental Health, Psychosocial Needs, and Life Challenges
Specialised Mental Health Support
At Althea Collective, we understand that complex mental health needs require more than a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you’re navigating low to borderline intellectual disabilities, personality disorders, trauma, or multiple co-occurring conditions, we provide specialised, compassionate care designed to support your unique journey.
With evidence-based therapies like DBT, Schema Therapy, and emerging interventions like EMDR, we focus on practical tools to improve emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and overall well-being.
Who We Support
We provide specialised support for individuals with complex mental health presentations and those eligible for NDIS psychosocial support, including:
Personality Disorders – Such as Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Avoidant Personality Disorder, and Histrionic Personality Disorder.
Low to Borderline Intellectual Disabilities – Tailored strategies to support emotional regulation, life skills, and personal growth.
ADHD and Emotional Dysregulation – Helping clients build practical skills for focus, impulsivity, and emotional control.
Self-Harm and Risk Management – Providing compassionate, skills-focused support for those experiencing self-harm or heightened risk factors.
NDIS Psychosocial Support Needs – Support for participants with significant functional impairments due to mental health conditions, tailored to improve day-to-day well-being.
Our Approach: Holistic, Evidence-Based, and Client-Centred Care
At Althea Collective, we understand that complex mental health presentations require a nuanced and compassionate approach. Our approach is grounded in research, practicality, and deep respect for you.
Evidence based care
We use proven methods that are tailored to complex needs and real-life application:
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT): Practical tools for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, both during sessions and at home.
Schema Therapy: Identifying and healing deep-rooted patterns and unmet emotional needs that contribute to recurring challenges.
Trauma-Informed Care: Recognising the impact of past trauma on current behaviours, emotions, and relationships, ensuring you feel safe and supported every step of the way.
Neurological Focus: We incorporate brain-based strategies to address how trauma, ADHD, and other conditions affect emotional regulation and executive functioning.
Behavioural Strategies: Skilled interventions to support individuals with behaviours of concern, anger issues, and patterns often associated with ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder) or emotional regulation challenges.
A Safe, Non-Judgmental Space
We understand the stigma and barriers often experienced by those with complex mental health needs. At Althea Collective, you are not “too much” or “too complex.” You are welcomed, seen, and supported without judgment.
Your progress is yours to own, and we honour your pace. Whether we take things step-by-step or focus on immediate needs, therapy is collaborative and responsive to your goals.
For those who feel overwhelmed in traditional therapy settings, we offer walk-and-talk sessions, or meetings in parks or cafes.
Collaboration and Skill-Building
Therapy is not just about talking; it’s about learning practical tools that support long-term change. Together, we’ll:
Develop skills for emotional regulation, managing impulsivity, and reducing distress.
Explore ways to build structure and stability in your life, especially for those managing psychosocial disabilities or comorbid challenges.
Address anger management and develop strategies to manage behaviours effectively.
Provide tools to navigate systems like the NDIS, OOHC, or post-inpatient care, so you feel empowered and supported.
